Dr. Sona Gill is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Sona grew up in Santa Cruz, CA, India, and Thailand. While attending the University of California, Berkeley, aside from her regular course work, she spent her years performing research in endocrinology before sunrise, teaching a class on diversity and tolerance during the day, and participating in and coaching dance teams in the evenings. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology, with an emphasis in Cell and Developmental Biology.

Dr. Sona went on to attend the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry for her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During this time, she was selected to participate in an exchange program with 2 different dental schools in Japan. Her interest in dentistry globally also led her to visit the Faculty of Dentistry at the Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and attend a conference to draft a caries risk assessment tool for Southeast Asia.

For her efforts in advocating for children’s oral health and pediatric dentistry during her time in dental school, Dr. Sona was awarded the Southern California Society for Pediatric Dentistry’s Award for Excelling in Pediatric Dentistry at UCLA.

Having decided to devote her career to working with children and special needs patients, Dr. Sona completed a specialized two-year residency program to earn a certificate in pediatric dentistry from UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Medical Center. While in residency, she took a special interest in community health and outreach programs. As such, she was selected to participate in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Lobby Days in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Sona’s practice philosophy involves attending to each child’s individual needs and making every dental appointment as fun and relaxed as possible. She emphasizes cavity prevention through patient and parent education. Outside of practicing dentistry, she spends much of her time running around after her two young children.
